One incident remembered by residents of the village, is the conflict and drop of two fighter aircrafts over the village on March 11, 1956. The flaming debris fell in the centre of the village without the slightest injury to residents. This was considered as divine intervention and for this reason every year, as a remembrance of the event, in the village procession a service, a religious service of the kind commemorates the event. In Poulakida, nurseries, Angelopouleio Nursery and Primary School operate, while Koutsopouleio Foundation awards regularly scholarships of education. Finally, the Cultural Association of Poulakida and the Cooperative of Selling Agricultural Products are demonstrating important action. |
